After racing the WSBK series for a lot of years of my career I have a lot of affection for the championship, the great people who make up the paddock and the fans.
Honestly, I think WSBK going to be a little bit tough on him, adapting to a whole different scene.
He's been in GP so long, and the Superbike is a different bike, the tracks are a little bit different, the whole scene is different.

Whilst the track stayed dry at the Magny-Cours circuit the realization that season was about to come to an end was evident as the temperatures plummeted as low as 6° during some of the sessions.
Having tested the first of the new development tyres for the 2004 WSBK at the circuit ten days prior, it was evident Martin new his way around, as he never slipped out of the top ten during the whole weekend.

Having the AMA guys in the WSBK race is one of the main reasons this race is such a big draw.
WSBK needs to revamp this spec tire rule so that more top domestic wildcard riders can be allowed to enter the race.
Maybe have a clause that says if a rider is going to only do one round of the WSBK season, and they are under contract with another tire company, that they may be allowed to run their own tire for this one round.

‘Big bang’ engine stays in BSB; banned in WSBK || Motorcycle Racing Online - Unofficial Motorcycle Racing Online News ...   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-06)
Although present technical regulations do indeed allow this type of engine to take part in the WSBK series, it has been confirmed by Marco Della Monica, spokesman for FGSport, that they will be changing the rules to stop such engines from racing within the series.
The main modification to a ‘big bang’ engine is the camshaft, which allows different timing configurations compared to a standard engine, with the other modifications being altered fuel mapping for the injection system.
Changing the rules to stop developing engines is not on, in my mind, as surely the rules laid down at the beginning of the season should stay the same throughout.
