The reporting in the WSJ is great -- well researched, comprehensive presentation of facts, broad coverage of issues of the day.
The articles in the WSJ make painfully apparent the shortcomings of other media outlets in the U.S. that are content to present competing spin.
I trust information found in WSJ articles in a way that I would never trust the pathetic presentation that passes for reporting at the NY Times.

Having lived for many years in France, I think I can say that your overall view is accurate and well rooted in fact.
Not exactly where I'd expect to see a rational analysis of France (as opposed to the news part which tends to be quite good).
One nitpick, maybe it shows I'm an unrealistic left-winger at heart, but I would say that protecting national champions is not always a bad thing.
