		A new site was chosen for the transmitter and tower which not only put Columbus, Mississippi, within the city grade coverage but also resulted in one of the largest geographic coverage areas in the country.
		A new 1590 foot tower and a new transmitter building were constructed near Woodland, Mississippi, some 40 miles away from the studio.
		Today WTVA has an operation undreamed of in the 1950's with an expanded news department featuring some of the finest journalists in the nation and electronic news gathering utilizing satellite uplink and extensive portable microwave equipment.

		As for WTVA's situation, I received an email from their president a few months ago confirming a channel assignment conflict with MS ETV.
		As far as WTVA, as far as I know, they have not released any sort of timetable as to their digital plans.
		WTVA will be the last to go full power, but he indicated all three "possibly" would be operational by the first of the year.

		Channel 9 WTVA the NBC Affiliate is an hour to the north of Columbus in Tupelo.
		Cleveland's is right in downtown on Public Square - all the major TV facilities are south of town, most of them in suburban Parma or nearby.
		I'm guessing the towers are in the best location to cover the most populated areas, of course the FCC probably has a say so.

		You are probably about 15 miles furthur from the towers than I am, this might make quite a difference since I am probably 20 miles or so from their fringe reception area.
		I am only 20-25 miles from the tower and can get WLOV and WTVA analog very reliably but WKDH only at night.WCBI I can get on a paperclip and their tower is further.
		WTVA, and they're required to actually take the bug out during commercials on all three stations (as of May of this year).
