		Amenhotep III died in year 38 of his reign (1350 BC/1349 BC) and was buried in the Valley of the Kings in WV22.
		Tiye is believed to have been buried in Akhenaten's royal tomb at Amarna alongside her son and granddaughter Meketaten, as a fragment from the tomb was not long ago identified as being from her sarcophagus.
		Her burial shrine ended up in KV55 and shabtis belonging to her have been found in the tomb of her husband in WV22.

	Egypt: The Tomb of Amenhotep III (and possibly Queen Tiy) on the West Bank at Luxor (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
		The tomb that we believe was the final resting place of Amenhotep III (Greek Amenophis III), one of the greatest kings of Egypt during one of its most prosperous eras, is actually located in the West Valley on the West Bank at Luxor (ancient Thebes) and numbered WV22.
		She most likely died during the reign of her son, Akhenaten, who provided her with a gilded shrine recovered by Davis from KV55, along with a red granite sarcophagus, fragments of which were found in a royal tomb at Amarna.
		However, it is possible that, given the fact that Tiy outlived her husband, rather than disturbing his already sealed tomb, alternate arrangements were made.

	Tomb of Amenhotep III
		The second suite (Jd) seems to have been expanded from an original storeroom, it was destined for burial place of Queen Sitamon.
		The body of the king himself was removed from WV22 to a side room in the tomb of Amenhotep II - KV35.
		The 'Elder Lady', identified by some as the mummy of Tiji, was recovered from this same tomb, though stripped of its bandages and cached in room (Jc).

	EgyptSites - Ay
		The tomb of King Ay, Tutankhamun's successor, is found in the Western Valley which branches off at the entrance to the main Valley of the Kings.
		Only two completed king's tombs have been found here to date, the other being the tomb of Amenhotep III (WV22) which has been recently undergoing re-excavation and restoration.
		The burial place of Ay was discovered in 1816 by Belzoni at which time it appeared to have been plundered and mutilated in antiquity.

		Susan E. James effectively addresses this and several other “evidences” in her article in this issue, “Dueling Nefertitis!.” Until the Egyptian authorities reverse their position of not permitting DNA testing of mummies, one guess as to who Younger Lady and her companions are is as good as another.
		own assertion made in this journal twelve years ago (KMT 2:2): they are Queen Tiye, Crown-Prince Thutmose and Princess-Queen Sitamen, and all originated in WV22, the Tomb of Amenhotep III in the West Valley of the Kings.
		The identities of the mummies aside, hopefully all of this media focus on the three will persuade the Supreme Council for Antiquities to finally do what is only right and necessary and remove these individuals from KV35 for conservation and subsequent dignified display — ideally in the place Dr. James

	EgyptSites - Theban Necropolis
		The peak of the mountain is locally known as el-Qurn, meaning 'the Horn' but it was perhaps its evocative pyramid-shape which decided the location of the royal burial place.
		The mountain actually forks into two wadis, the main branch forming the Valley of the Kings and the secondary branch the Western Valley, which contains the tombs of only two known kings, Amenhotep III (WV22) and Ay (WV23).
		The main Valley contains sixty-two known tombs (numbered KV1-62) but only twenty-four of them contained royal burials, many others being empty or undecorated, or belonging to privileged high-status officials of Thebes.
