Judging by the quality of performance and the overriding good vibrations the band presents on KMFDM: WWIII Tour 2003, Konietzko and his cohorts are on more than equal footing with their far more famous counterparts, at least as dynamic, daring musicians.
Though the direction throughout is not half as inventive or electrifying as the band and fans of their former incarnations may balk at the lack of early songs, this is still a wonderful document of an extraordinary group in full sonic thunder.

With an album titled WWIII, their message and plan of attack is as clear as the intentions of their music – they’re angry at the world, they’re angry at governments, they’re angry at society and they are angry at the “tyrants” and all the lawless violence.
Well listen bub, get in line because this fragile world is filled with clenched fists and the only way you’re going to be heard is by having a message of hope and prospect in resistance.
In this album’s brutish opening “WWIII”, they so charmingly announce their ingenious resolve regarding the deep problems this world is faced with; “I declare war on the world / war in outer space / I declare war in a nutshell / war all over the place”.

WWIII is in effect a political album that takes its cues from The Republican Party in the U.S. The fact that others are told to choose between being “for or against us” is enough to fuel a few albums worth of material.

After wrapping a tour earlier this year supporting their latest album WWIII (the band’s 13th studio album, and first for Sanctuary Records), KMFDM is doing it again, crisscrossing the U.S. and Canada in celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary.
The band may have put their all into “Flesh,” but the song still lacked some of the bite of the album version due to the absence of its original vocalist, Raymond Watts.
KMFDM’s lineup has long been a revolving door of talent swirling around frontman and main writer Sascha Konietzko, but since the band’s return from a short-lived hiatus at the turn of the century, they’ve seen massive turnaround.

You'd think that WWIII's acerbic look at the Bush administration would turn into angry chaos at this Chicago show, but all the edges are sanded off by overdubbing (either that or KMFDM is one of the most in tune, mistake-free live bands ever).
Getting rid of the lesser tracks from WWIII makes this a better way to hear that album's material, and tracks like "Revenge" and "Blackball" sound more absolute here.
The silly band-introducing song "Intro" is more fun live than in the studio and "A Drug Against War" brings the album to a thrashing close.
