WWT Martin Mere is a wetland reserve managed by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust at Burscough[?], Lancashire, six miles from Ormskirk[?] and ten miles from Southport[?] (Merseyside).
The name of the centre comes from the mere on the east side of the reserve which is ringed by 11 observation hides.
Martin Mere has its own "Domesday Book", listing (for 2002) 517 species of plant, 287 species of fungi, 1,368 species of invertebrates[?].

I will be exhibiting again at the 10th North West Bird Fair at WWT Martin Mere this weekend the 18th and 19th November.
Since the recent BBC filming of Autumn Watch with Bill Oddie and Kate Humble, the number of visitors to Martin Mere and the increase in membership has been amazing, so hopefully there will be even more visitors to the Bird Fair.
Not only do you get access to all of the WWT reserve but there are a number of talks being held during the two days and of course, a variety of exhibitors in the Marquee and the Widgeon and Pintail Rooms offering a selection of quality products.

 SITA Trust - New Warden For Wildfowl Reserve Following £30,000 Grant
WWT Martin Mere has appointed a new reserve warden following a grant of £30,000 from SITA Environmental Trust, which distributes funding through the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.
The Wildfowl and Wetland Trust purchased 63 hectares of farmland, adjacent to Martin Mere, which has increased the reserve by 50% to 531 acres.
