		As follow-up to this post back in August, I went back and compared playlists for the four music stations on my car stereo presets -- WXRT, WZZN, WKQX, WTMX -- and cross-checked them against WWCD in Columbus, OH.
		The bottom five songs on their list were played only once in the week reported.
		Q101 (WKQX) and The Zone (WZZN) duplicated 16 of 40 songs, especially toward the top end of their lists -- seven of The Zone's top 10 were played on Q101, and six of Q101's top 10 were on The Zone.

	WZZN Flips To Oldies (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-29)
		The flip, which took place at noon CT, was launched with a continuous feed of ABC Radio Networks' "Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel." Shannon's format will air nonstop until a local morning and afternoon show are set in place by the end of the year.
		There's no word on the programming staff and air talent left over from the station's active rock incarnation, but once local personalities are in place at WZZN, Shannon's format will air in the remainder of the dayparts.
		As an Active Rock station, WZZN had lackluster ratings with a 2.0 overall rating share in the Spring survey, while WJMK had a 2.9 overall rating share when it was an Oldies station.

		Though seemingly unrelated, the WZZN move comes less than a week after Bob Iger, Disney Co.'s incoming chief executive, said yet again Wednesday at an investment conference that the company is still weighing a possible sale of ABC radio assets.
		It's also not clear what effect, if any, the WZZN switch will have on the rest of the Chicago radio market as several other stations have been rumored to be considering their options.
		The right stuff: Given the chance to distance itself from the political controversies of outgoing chairman Ken Tomlinson, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's board on Monday named a pair of conservatives as its new chair and vice chair.

		There are simply no other stations on the dial that play the music that WZZN was playing.
		An internet search on WZZN's history reveals that this format change is pretty much on par with how the station has operated in the past, though.

	ColumbiaChronicle.com - - Moldy Oldies
		I bring this up because Chicago has a new oldies station called the very original “94.7 Chicago’s True Oldies Station.” It replaces the former WZZN 94.7 station, The Zone, which is no great loss.
		WZZN’s president and general manager, Jim Pastor, made it clear that he wants his station to improve upon the standard oldies format.
		Jack, with its eclectic lineup of artists, is a national (and I guess international, since Canada has its own Jack stations) phenomenon, even earning a mention in Blender magazine.

		Filling the gap in the market left by Infinity Broadcasting's flip of WJMK to "Jack" earlier this year, ABC Radio has flipped Active Rocker WZZN/Chicago to Oldies, debuting "94.7 Chicago's True Oldies Channel" today at noon.
		WZZN President/GM Jim Pastor made the announcement, adding, "What will separate 'True Oldies' from the traditional oldies format is its deep playlist and current sound.
		The new WZZN will have local programming during morning and afternoon drive, with a local Saturday night "Oldies party show." The rest of the station's programming will be filled out by Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel.
