 | | Samuel Abbott, the youngest son of Samuel and Deborah (Currier) Abbott, was born in Switzerland County, Indiana, February 21, 1819. |
 | | The spring of the latter year, he came to Wabash County, purchasing the Somerset Mills, which he successfully managed until 1875, disposing of the mill property, and becoming interested in the Cliff Mills, with which he was connected until their destruction by fire. |
 | | He visited Wabash County in 1844, finally locating upon the premises where he has since resided, in February, 1847, at once putting up a log cabin, which was occupied by the family until the erection of the handsome brick mansion in 1874. |
