Wachi Town is located in the center of Kyoto Prefecture.Wachi is blessed with an abundance of pristine natural surroundings and has a deep folk entertainment culture.
The origin of drum playing in Wachi dates back to the mid Heian period (794-1185) when a samurai was commissioned by the emperor to rid the mountains in the Wachi area of demons.
In Wachi, Obata-banzai is being performed by third generation performers in their 50s or 60s and they are teaching a younger 4th generation how to carry on.

No specific cause for his death other then illness was ever disclosed; however, his father was sufficently suspitious of Wachi to have him murdered in 1568.
He was adopted as child by Ota Hidetsuna and was later brought to Kyoto by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and allowed to use the name 'Toyotomi''.
Takamoto died suddenly while staying at the Wachi household, and Masaharu was immediatly held under suspicion by Takamoto's father, Môri Motonari.

Komahime had just arrived in Kyoto when she was executed as part of Hideyoshi's destruction of Hidetsugu's family.
Yoshiakira himself fell out of favor as a result of the affair and was said to have been enraged and grieved by the event, nursing a grudge against the Toyotomi that saw him drift towards Tokugawa Ieyasu.
A veteran of Iwakura (1558) and Okehazama (1560), he assisted Nobunaga in his campaign against Saito Tatsuoki and in the course of it was established at Kanayama Castle (1565).

In time with the issuance, scheduled for Nov. 1, of a new 10,000-yen Bank of Japan note, the municipal office, the tourist association and the chamber of commerce and industry of Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, will jointly conduct a campaign 'Uji City: the tale of new 10,000-yen note'to attract tourists to the city.
In the ancient and middle-age days, noblemen in the capital of Kyoto as well as ordinary people from all over the country made pilgrimage to sacred Kumano mountains in Kishu, which would later become Wakayama Prefecture.
The Nagomi station in Kyoto's Wachi Town along National Highway 27 and the Kyoto Shin-Koetsu-Mura station in Kyoto's Sonobe Town are also popular because of vegetable and fruit stands, where locally produced chestnuts, fl beans, sweet potatoes and yuzu oranges, among others, are available.
