Wacky Races Playstation Game Review in ABSOLUTE PLAYSTATION INTERNATIONAL - Wacky Races
Whether they were simply trying to 'Stop that Pigeon' or deviously cheat their way to first place in Wacky Races, you couldn't help but snigger along with Muttley at Dick's Dastardly outrageous tricks.
Wacky Races sticks rigidly to the format of the TV cartoon where players are actually encouraged to win the race using any means necessary.
Before a race even begins the player is subjected to a nauseous experience as the rapid moving camera quickly pans full circle before settling slightly behind the starting line.

 Welcome to the GameVortex
There are plenty of vehicles out there to race, quite a few not appearing until you unlock them, and they all have their own visual bent.
Wacky Races certainly isn't a revolution in the racer genre -- it's basically a repackaged Crash Team Racing with a different way of doing weapons and much better graphics -- but it never fails to entertain.
But the game, as stated previously, tends to slow down whenever there's a lot of action on the screen, and since you'll be firing weapons and everything in the pack, you'll oftentimes be better off closing your eyes, waiting for the mayhem to end, and seeing where you end up.

 Don Markstein's Toonopedia: Wacky Races
Wacky Races, which was pure funny stuff from the word "go", debuted on CBS on September 14, 1968.
And it wasn't the first cartoon to rip off that premise — Jay Ward's Tom Slick, one of the back segments on George of the Jungle's show, beat this one onto the small screen by a year.
Wacky Races underwent the usual merchandising route, including a comic book from Gold Key that ran seven issues (August, 1969 through April, 1972).

The bulk of the races in the game take place on looped tracks that require lapping, which unfortunately takes away some of the feel from the show.

This show never jumped because basically it never deviated from the format which is to say that it was the same thing every week but so what it was a cartoon and it was entertaining which is about all we expect from cartoons anyway so who's complaining.
There are two occasions when I consider it came close to jumping: one - when Dastardly actually came so close to winning that the nose of his car (which was, of course, split in half by a circular saw) was actually touching the line ages before the rest came through.
Wacky Races was too cool, never jumped, it was great fun and well produced cartoon for kids in the late 60's.

The cool thing about Wacky Races is the outcome of the game could change at any moment, so if you blow up and your in first place you could end up down in fifth place, and then you can catch up with the other races by using the power-ups.
With most GB race games all you do is hold down the A button and avoid the odd car and then finish the track.
Wacky Races adds a lot of ideas, the power ups idea hasn’t been used in a racer like this that I have seen.
