The Poi To islands (commonly 蒲台羣島, originally 蒲苔羣島) are a small group of sparsely inhabited islands (a population of around 200) located south-east of Hong Kong Island, off Stanley, in the territory of Hong Kong.
One of the islands has a haunted house, and some rock carvings supposed to be the epitaph of an emperor who died on or near Po Toi.
The islands are accessible mostly by private ferry (kai-to) or water taxi.

 Kellett Island - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kellett Island (奇力島, also 燈籠洲 in Chinese) is a former island off East Point in Hong Kong.
It is now connected to Hong Kong Island at Causeway Bay as a result of land reclamation over the past 150 years.
In October 1991, a pottery jar containing large quantity of Chinese copper coins was discovered at the island by The Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club.

The island is crossed by the Ma Wan Viaduct, part of the Lantau Link, linking Hong Kong International Airport to the urban areas.
It is connected to Tsing Yi by the Tsing Ma suspension bridge, and to Lantau Island by the Kap Shui Mun cable-stayed bridge.

Waglan Lighthouse came under the control of Britain in 1901, following the lease of the New Territories and Outlying Islands to Britain in 1898.
After the British took over Waglan, in 1901, it became the practice for Hong Kong's Lighthouses to be manned by Eurasians, in the same way that railways in (British) India used to be staffed largely by Anglo-Indians.
They used to tell the tale of how at Waglan, when the weather was bad and the boat could not berth, they had to be hauled up on to the island from the boat in a basket.

The maximum gust was 234km per hour, at Waglan Island - the strongest gust Waglan has yet recorded.
(The island's weather station recorded gusts of up to 182km per hour.) It rained, too, with downpours so severe visibility was cut to maybe a hundred metres; the clouds were so thick it was gloomy, street lights were on even mid-morning.
There were non-stop radio reports, mentioning that the eye was passing over southern Hong Kong and, sure enough, the winds moderated, eased, the rain stopped, and the sky brightened.

The beach at Sham Wan, Lamma Island is the only documented site in Hong Kong where the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) attempts to nest (Morton 1992; Hong Kong Marine Conservation Society 1997), and it is therefore a marine habitat of special concern.
Populations of the two identified species of Horseshoe Crabs (Tachypleus tridentatus and Carcinoscorpius rotundicauda) in Hong Kong are known to have drastically declined in recent years and have been recommended for conservation (Huang et al 1998; Chiu and Morton 1999).
Marine areas northwest of Lantau Island, extending from between Yi O and Tung Chung Bay to a depth of 5 m and offshore areas surrounding the identified nursery beaches at Pak Nai and Shui Hau are considered critical habitat for these species.

Interviews with fishermen provide indirect evidence of spawning aggregations in eastern Indonesia where seasonally, catches increase from an average 1 fish/week/boat to 5¿6 fish/week/boat during the possible aggregation season; the spawning period was suggested to be December to February based on these interview data (Sadovy and Liu 2004).
Rarely is the species seen underwater anywhere, but there are reports of individuals caught in Hong Kong, by hook or spear, in deeper water and outer islands such as Waglan Island dating back at least 30 years (Sadovy and Cornish 2000).
In the Andaman Islands, India, Giant Grouper are protected by law but the fisheries department does not enforce this law and the fish caught are unnoticed and are not cared for (Dr. C.M. James pers.

The Government intends to construct and install a submarine cable system in the sea-bed of the Tathong Channel, down to the border of Hong Kong waters near Waglan Island.
The installation of the submarine cable will be carried out by two cable laying vessels that utilise plough-burial operations and jetting operations respectively for simultaneous laying and burial beneath the sea-bed.

To save the archaeological heritage from destruction by development projects at the former Tai Hom Village in Kowloon and Telegraph Bay on Hong Kong Island, rescue excavations were launched in October 2002 and May 2003, respectively.
Ceramic vessels of the Song and Ming dynasties were retrieved from the village and a kiln structure dating to the Tang dynasty was discovered at the bay.
Rescue excavations were carried out at Ngau Hom Shek, Tsing Chuen Wai and Lam Tei to facilitate implementation of the approved EIA reports and relevant conditions in the Environmental Permits concerning two major road projects, the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Corridor and the Deep Bay Link.
