This letter was carried to Lahaina by the overland route on the return trip from Ulupalakua via Wailuku and across the mountains of West Maui from Waikapu to Olowalu.
This cover was sent in February, 1868, by A. Forbes, postmaster at Kaluaaha, Molokai, to Keaiwa, in Ka'u, Hawaii.
Kaluaaha was without stamps at the time so a 2¢ manuscript mark was put on the letter and it was franked at Lahaina with the 2¢ Scott No. 31a.

As the Chair of the House Committee on Transportation, Representative Souki has worked toward reducing driving under the influence (DUI) in Hawaii.
He has introduced House Bill No. 2639, C.D. 1, to deter DUI by establishing stiffer penalties for "highly intoxicated drivers." The breath/blood-alcohol level for DUI is.08 or higher, and this measure would establish a "highly intoxicated driver" as one with a breath/blood-alcohol level of.15 or higher.
Recognizing Hawaii's unique geographical situation, Representative Souki, along with his colleagues, has introduced House Bill No. 1880, C.D. 1, to preserve the state's limited cargo space, space that is critical for the movement of cargo between islands and the rest of the world.
