BLOEMFONTEIN -- The Waikato Chiefs finally broke their South African Super 12 rugby duck when a late rally saw them scrape home 36-35 against Golden Cats at the Free State Stadium on Saturday night.
With the Cats' players seemingly having one eye on the half-time whistle, the New Zealanders produced a sharp reminder of their undoubted talents when, in a rare thrust at the Cats line, the ball was recycled through numerous phases before flanker Glen Marsh popped up on the left wing to take the scoring pass.
De Beer struck again with his sixth three-pointer of the night soon afterwards and the Chiefs' hopes momentarily nosedived when replacement flanker Justin Collins was sent to the sin-bin for a late hit on the flyhalf six minutes from the end.

And while Moffett had claimed the Welsh union, under his direction, had dropped ticket prices and successfully put together a string of 74,000-seat test sellouts as a result, Dawson said dropping prices for games that tended to attract low attendances was not the answer and sometimes factors like kickoff times were beyond their control.
