 Recreation & Tourism in the South Waikato
The District is strategically located between the world famous Waitomo Caves to the west and the equally famous boiling mud and cultural tourism of Rotorua to the east, with a significant numbers of tourist buses travelling daily through Putaruru and Arapuni.
The well known Te Waihou Walkway (www.putaruru.co.nz) attracts thousand of visitors eager to enjoy the stunning local environment en route to the pristine spring which is the source of 70% of New Zealand’s bottled water; and a major walking and cycling trail is currently under construction.
The Waikato River Trail (www.southwaikato.com) will ultimately extend 100km along the banks of the Waikato River and six lakes in our District, with the first section - from Arapuni village to Jones’ Landing on the shore of Lake Arapuni – opened on the 5th December 2004.

The Waikato region is vulnerable to many natural, biological and technological disasters.
The Waikato CDEM Group boundary is based largely on Environment Waikato's boundary, excluding the southern portions of the Franklin and Rotorua Districts that are within the Auckland and Bay of Plenty regions respectively.

For the higher frequency UHF and the SHF bands the actual radiating elements are quite small but  to achieve antenna performance  gain  reflector dishes may be used for experimental purposes, up to 4 metres or more  in an urban situation; larger dishes exist in rural situations.
I  apologise for the length of this reply, however I feel that to provide you with less information would be to belie the importance of an appropriate functioning antenna installation.  I have tried to cover the salient points in a layman's terms.

In the eastern part of the region lie the Hauraki Plains, best conceived as a shallow scoop draining towards the Firth of Thames by means of the Piako, Waitoa, and Waihou Rivers.
Previously the area was a morass and, even to the present period, a short length of railway line by which the milk cans were carted over the wet ground from the milking shed to the road remained a distinctive feature of the district.

The progress of settlement followed a different course in the Waikato district.
The boundaries of the Waikato are less neatly delimited than those of the Hauraki Plains.
But the addition of the broad Waikato River itself, the more gently rolling character of the landforms, the occasional peak or ridge of volcanic rock or greywacke which breaks the line of the horizon, combine to create a landscape more diverse than that of the Hauraki Plains.
