Wajima (輪島市; -shi) is a city located in Ishikawa, Japan.
As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 25,818 and the density of 96.10 persons per km².
Wajima and its famous morning market were featured in the film Maborosi.

Although the oldest piece of Wajima lacquer ware is the shunuri-tobira made in the Muromachi period (1392-1573), other items and tools have been found during surveys of archaeological sites that date back to the Kamakura period (1185-1333).
During the Edo period (1600-1868), Wajima lacquer ware was known for its durability and was being used in the homes of farmers and merchants up and down the country.
Wajima is still the center of a production area with 813 workshops employing 2,734 craftspeople, 75 of which are government recognized Master Craftsmen.
