I used to work for waldenbooks and i can tell you that they are only interested in selling the preferred reader card.
I am so tired of being pressured to get the Preferred Reader Card..I went through a period where I wouldn't even go in the store because I was actually dressed down by the clerk (in front of other customers) because I told her I wasn't interested in the card.

While I can not confirm the validity of the statements expressed against Waldenbook's business practices in general by other individuals, I can however attest to the outstanding service I continually receive at my local Waldenbooks.
The only joke about Waldenbooks is what they pay employees....$5.75 an hour while you must sell a quota of membership cards or risked being fired.
I've always felt that Waldenbooks to be a friendly, warm establishment, no matter where I go.

I've just spoken to the store manager at Waldenbooks in Freehold, New Jersey (about a 15 minute car ride from my home).
She suggested I call the main office, perhaps they could do something, I called and was told, the "no return" policy was the issue.
Amo and Faith: My local Waldenbooks simply bypassed their 'system' and went into the Ingram system.
