 AROUND TOWN / WALKING MAN
As I walk the shoreline, I try to imagine how it was during and before the '06 quake, the Gold Rush, the founding of the Mission and Capt. Gaspar de Portola's discovery of San Francisco Bay way back in 1769.
As I walk back and forth across the county line from the bay to the Pacific, I repeatedly lose my bearings and have to ask people whether I'm in San Francisco or Daly City.
I started this walk at the Ferry Building, which is in the middle of what was once Yerba Buena Cove, a beach that stretched from Broadway and Front streets to Rincon Point, at the foot of the Bay Bridge.

I have about 20,000 more miles to walk across Asia, Australia, Africa, and South America to break the Guinness Book World Record of 35,000 miles for walking around the world, set by Arthur Blessit.
Always nice to lay down in my tent after a full day of walking, watch the moon and stars come out, and think about what happened over the course of the day.
