The UK government moved to end the stranglehold of Birds Eye Wall's, Nestle and Mars on the sale of ice cream in January after a Competition Commission report which found that outlet and freezer exclusivity restricts competition between manufacturers and retailers.
Birds Eye Wall's, the biggest ice cream maker in Britain, has finally conceded defeat in its long-running struggle with the UK government.
Birds Eye has also had to concede that it would allow ice creams made by other manufacturers to be stocked in the freezers it supplies to shops.

I spotted a Kwality Walls ice cream three wheeler, wanting to have one approached him and asked him for a lime punch.
Looking at my argument another lady said I was right and she too returned the ice-cream like me. I walked about another 100 -150 mtrs to another Kwality walls ice cream three wheeler.
I don't think it can be justified in any manner that you have to pay a 3rd person the extra Rs 2/- just because we are at beach, After all it is hard earned.

This allows the Kwality Walls Cassatta (labelled as frozen dessert) to have vegetable oil as one of its ingredients, which is otherwise not allowed under the definition of ice-cream, kulfi and chocolate cream by PFA.
For instance, labelling an ice-cream as a frozen dessert, like Kwality Walls does for Cassatta, can allow it to circumvent PFA norms and include vegetable oil in its ice creams instead of milk fat, which is otherwise not permitted!
If they had to label Cassatta as an ice-cream, they would have had to put at least 10 per cent milk fat in their product, as is required by the PFA Act.
