Wallace County (standard abbreviation: WA) is a county located in the U.S. state of Kansas.
Wallace County is home to Mount Sunflower, the highest point in Kansas at 4,039 feet (1,231 meters).
In the county the population was spread out with 29.10% under the age of 18, 6.50% from 18 to 24, 23.60% from 25 to 44, 22.80% from 45 to 64, and 18.10% who were 65 years of age or older.

Cheyenne County was created with its present borders by the Colorado legislature on March 25, 1889 out of portions of northeastern Bent County and southeastern Elbert County.
In the county the population was spread out with 28.80% under the age of 18, 7.10% from 18 to 24, 26.20% from 25 to 44, 21.30% from 45 to 64, and 16.60% who were 65 years of age or older.
The median income for a household in the county was $37,054, and the median income for a family was $44,394.

The present study was initiated to search for plovers on the release sites and adjacent areas to evaluate habitat in Wallace County for comparison with data form Fisher (1982) and with actual breeding sites in Colorado, and to release additional plover chicks into the best available brood rearing habitat.

It is worth noting here that although Hesperornis had been discovered and named in 1871 by Marsh from collections made by him and his Yale College Scientific Expedition, the type specimen was without a skull and the fact that it also had teeth was unknown at the time Ichthyornis was found.
It presumably was collected together with YPM 1478, which was collected by B. Mudge from the Upper Cretaceous Niobrara Chalk, Wallace County, Kansas in 1876.
The specimen (KUVP 119673) was donated to the University of Kansas Museum of Natural History where it was recently prepared and is currently under study.
