Mike Baron has given us a Wally West who's changed a great deal since the tragic death of Barry Allen.
Wally begins his journey, here in the first issue, as a child hero, a spoiled brat who, we can tell, is going to have to go through a lot of difficult growth before he pulls himself up by the bootstraps to become a hero who deserves to wear that familiar lightning bolt logo.

During a battle with the villian Kobra, Wally was forced to reach his ultimatespeed and touched the speed force, which was the source of his power, as well asthat of Jay, Max, Johnny and his daughter Jesse, and his cousins Impulse and XS(who were from the 30th century).
Wally eventually had to give up his career due to a mysterious disease that was slowly killing him every time heused his superspeed.
On the day that Iris arranged for Wally to meet his hero, a of lightning came through the window and struck a cabinet filled with chemicals which splashed over Wally just as Flash was telling Wally of his origin, which happened to be the exact same thing that just happened.
