Walmex , an affiliate of the world's largest retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. , said on Tuesday it will invest 11.9 billion pesos ($1.14 billion) to open 120 stores and modernize others in 2006.
Last year, Walmex spent a record 8.13 billion pesos to open 95 new units in 60 cities.
Shares in Walmex, among the most popular in Latin America with investment funds, gained 0.83 percent to close at 30.23 pesos on Wednesday.
