The Calhoun Street Bridge is 1,280 feet long consisting of seven pratt trusses of nine panels 20' x 26' deep.
In the Calhoun Street Bridge the columns utilize four semi-circular sections, seven spans of 180' were used to cross the river.
The significance of the Calhoun Street Bridge is that it is one of the few surviving long bridges of its type.

Renovated as the longest pedestrian walkway bridge in the world, the 2,370-foot Walnut Street Bridge in downtown Chattanooga reopened in grand fashion in May 1993.

 Improvements slated for Gordon Street Bridge
The bridge, which connects Westfield Avenue in Roselle Park to First Avenue in Roselle, will be closed to traffic for the next three or four months so the deteriorating structure can be repaired.
Built in 1911, the Gordon Street Bridge and its twin bridge on Walnut Street, are part of a group of about 100 bridges statewide known as "orphan bridges," since no one wants to claim ownership of them.
Among the planned repairs for the Gordon Street bridge will be the replacement of the deck at the main truss span, replacement of two bridge bearings, sand blasting and painting of the main truss span as well as various concrete repairs to the structure.

"The bridge is fairly old (early 1900's?) and spans the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg and is now only used for pedestrian traffic.
"Apparently the bridge was 'lifted' off of its foundations due to the high waters and ice buildup.
Further inspections of the bridge have found additional damage to several more piers.

He said the office will be giving up 11 of its parking spaces, and the land will be used as part of a planned pedestrian bridge going over to the Bluff View area and for an intersection connection onto Riverfront Parkway.
He said that soil is to be moved to the Roper Corp. property across the river, where there is to be a 22-acre extension of the popular Coolidge Park.

The walking bridge and much of Coolidge Park had to be closed Monday due to the situation with the man. It caused some businesses to close because customers could not reach them.
