Disney would promote the conversion to color when the anthology series, renamed Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color, moved in 1961 to NBC, which was beginning color broadcasts.
Walt Disney was not only one of the most important producers in motion picture history, but one of the most important producers in American television history as well.
Disney's first Emmy would be awarded for an hour-long Disneyland episode about the filming of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) titled "Operation Undersea," but humorously known within the industry as "The Long, Long Trailer." The series also worked to advertise the park, with individual episodes devoted specifically to its construction.

An anthology series of one hour dramas produced on film or videotape, Teleplay was an attempt under the tenure of John Hirsch as head of CBC drama to encourage new writers and to produce new, quality drama.
He returned to Canada to direct the internationally successful feature, The Incredible Journey, for Walt Disney, and thereafter was reintroduced to Canadians as the on-camera host of Telescope.
Although the series was praised for the skill with which it presented the sights and sound of the war, and for the sharp writing and effectiveness of individual segments, it was also criticized for its lack of an overall thesis or focus to structure the series.

And it has: Bill Cotter's "The Wonderful World of Disney Television" (Hyperion, 1997) covers nearly every production Disney has produced for the medium from their first special One Hour in Wonderland in 1950 to Home Improvement.
