  Spring 2001 – Walter Allen Wilburn
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Walter A. Wilburn, former patient care and physical therapy assistant in the Mellen Center.
Walter worked with the Day Treatment Program and was missed by our patients when he was forced into retirement by an injury in 1996.
Walter gave much of himself to the Mellen Center and our patients, and said he felt it was his calling to help older and disabled people.

Walter was a retired chemical engineer with DuPont after 35 years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester Henry Walter and Dorothy Gosier Walter, and is survived by his wife, Jane Bizzell Walter of the home; three sons, Michael Lawrence Walter and Stephen Henry Walter and wife, Mary, of Winterville, N.C., David Mewborne Walter of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren, McKinsey Walter and Phillip Allen Walter.
