Walter Lorimer Farley created the Black Stallion, one of the most famous real or fictional horses of all time, over forty years ago, and that horse is still running at the head of the race.
Having for years faithfully followed all the fantastic feats of the famous fl stallion and his owner-rider, Alec Ramsey, we find it difficult to believe that Alec would be careless enough to let his $100,000 horse-barn burn to the ground the very night he discovers his insurance on said barn has lapsed.
Farley uses it [in "The Black Stallion's Courage"] as an excuse (as if he needed one) to let the Black run again to glory….

This model is a small traditional scale horse, meaning that some other horses in the traditional scale will be fairly larger than he is. However, the scale different is not as appear ant as with some other models and he should fit in just fine with the rest of you herd.

To parents of girls: I didn't care that Walter Farely's protagonists were usually boys.
Walter Farley did a wonderful job of combining the two.
I think he did a marvelous job with it although I do agree with the other reviewer that it is somewhat difficult to understand and may not be and easy read for younger children like many of the other books in the series have turned out to be.
