Of the founders, Walter Gordon was the best known publicly and, in addition to his success in business, he was widely respected for his commitment to public service and his wide-ranging interest in Canadian public policy.
Walter Gordon played a key role in a number of federal and provincial government task forces and commissions over the years and from 1955 -1957 he chaired the Royal Commission on Canada's Economic Prospects.
Walter Gordon served as an inspiration for a generation of Canadian nationalists and is still remembered today for his unwavering defence of Canada's economic independence and sovereignty.
