  Walter Reynolds - LoveToKnow 1911
Just after the prince became king Lin 1307 Reynolds was appointed treasurer of England; in 1308 he became bishop of Worcester and in 1310 chancellor.
Although the private life of the new archbishop appears to have been the reverse of exemplary he attempted to carry out some very necessary reforms in his new official capacity; he also continued the struggle for precedence, which had been carried on for many years between the archbishops of Canterbury and of York.
Reynolds remained in general loyal to Edward II.

 Walter Reynolds
Just after the prince became king in 1307 Reynolds was appointed treasurer of England; in 1308 he became bishop of Worcester and in 1310 chancellor.
When Robert Winchelsea, archbishop of Canterbury, died in May 1313 Edward II prevailed upon Pope Clement V to appoint his favourite to the vacant archbishopric, and Walter was enthroned at Canterbury in February 1314.
Reynolds remained in general loyal to Edward II until 1324, when with all his suffragans he opposed the king in defence of the bishop of Hereford, Adam of Oriton.

Berkshire History: Biographies: Walter Reynolds, Archbishop of Canterbury (d. 1327)
Reynolds, who seems to have abetted Edward in his follies and pleasures, was rewarded with the Archbishopric of Canterbury in 1313, when, at the King’s insistence, the Pope set aside the monks' election of Thomas Cobham, Dean of Salisbury.
Reynolds made an attempt to remedy some of the most glaring of ecclesiastical abuses, but his activity was largely displayed in the field of politics, rather than in the guidance of the Church.
A few months later Reynolds died, it is said from terror, because the Pope had threatened him with spiritual censures for having somewhat irregularly consecrated Bishop Berkeley of Exeter, with a view to please the Queen and her favourite.
