WalterCon 2006: a report on progress and a call for assistance - The Jem Report
It's called WalterCon because "Walter" was one of the proposed names for what was to become a free replacement for BeOS.
The photos I took are of the Saturday morning setup, a group discussion on proposed Haiku application limitations and the structure of BFS, a small gathering of Haiku contributors during a break, and a live demo of Haiku on a projector.
As for WalterCon 2006, it was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about Haiku, BeOS, the BFS filesystem, and some pointers on writing device drivers.

It aims to be compatible with BeOS at both the source and binary level, allowing software written and compiled for BeOS to compile and run without modification on Haiku.
The new name, decided by project leaders and influenced by an official community vote, was revealed at WalterCon in 2004.
The name intends to reflect the elegance and simplicity that attracted many to the BeOS platform, but is also a reference to the distinctive haiku error messages found in NetPositive, the default BeOS web browser, and many other Be applications.

 The LooneyBin v3.1 » Blog Archive » WalterCon ‘05 - Demo Footage
As posted on HaikuNews, here’s a video of some demo footage from WalterCon 2005.
I managed to film portions of Michael Phipps demonstrating Haiku on his mini-itx frankenstine of a box, and Andrew Bachmann abusing the Java port.
Aside from the oohhh and awwwe moments in the conference room, I found the most enjoyable moments from WalterCon 05 when we were just sitting around running to and from the buffetts.
