London - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rising traffic congestion on city centre roads led to the creation of the world's first metro system — the London Underground — in 1863, driving yet further expansion and urbanisation.
An inner ring road (the North and South Circular) and an orbital motorway (the M25) are intersected by a number of busy radial routes — but very few motorways penetrate inner London.
Its constituents include multi-disciplinary colleges such as UCL, King's and Queen Mary and more specialised institutions such as Imperial, the London School of Economics, the SOAS, the Royal Academy of Music and the Institute of Education.

Blackhorse Road station - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Blackhorse Road station is a railway and tube station in Walthamstow, London, England.
On the Victoria Line it lies between Tottenham Hale and Walthamstow Central, and on the Silverlink Gospel Oak to Barking line between South Tottenham and Walthamstow Queens Road.
The station originally opened on 19 July 1894, and the present station opened on 1 September 1968, having been rebuilt to accommodate the newly-opened Victoria Line.

 Barking - Gospel Oak
That at Leytonstone High Road was an oddity, because the restricted space meant wagons had to be lowered from the goods line (behind the eastbound platform) to ground level by means of an hydraulic hoist.
Black Horse Road (it was usually spelt as three words, not two) closed altogether on 14th Dec 1981 and was replaced by the present platforms entered via the 1968 Tube station.
The choice of Queens Road as a new name is both a puzzle and highly misleading, as Queens Road itself is a good hike away.

The Barking-Gospel Oak line passes right under the middle of the High Street and the market yet Walthamstow Queens Road station is currently a lengthy and circuitous hike away.
This would bring Walthamstow within quick and easy reach of many other parts of North and East London and would help take traffic off our clogged-up roads.

 London TravelWatch
London TravelWatch, the transport users' watchdog for London has told a public inquiry at Waltham Forest Town Hall, that a ten year old agreement made by developers of the Exeter Road housing estate to extend the footbridge at Walthamstow Queens Road Station, must be enforced.
This link, with a second connection at the other end of Exeter Road into the car park at Walthamstow Central station, for which Transport for London (TfL) had earmarked funding, would reduce by more than half, the circuitous ten minutes walk between the two stations to four minutes.
It would not only help passengers changing trains, but would also make it much quicker for people in the Queen's Rd area to get to the Central rail and tube stations, the bus station, as well as the town centre shops and the market, and could make a big difference to local residents.
