Wang Chongyang - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lin Chaoying knew that her level in martial arts was inferior to Wang Chongyang and proposed this duel; by stroking the stone slab, she smeared a chemical substance on the slab to make it pliable and thus possible to write on.
Wang Chongyang was extremely surprised and when he touched the slab and found out that it was soft, he realised how Lin Chaoying won.
Wang Chongyang entered the duel not to claim the manual or for the title of number one martial arts master, but to prevent turmoil in the realm of martial arts thrown, and to stop lives from being wasted on the scripture.

Wang was one of the leading Daoists of China, and wrote several important works, including the text Chongyang Zhenren Jinguan Yusuo Jue (Master Wang Chongyang's Instructions on the Golden Gate and Jade Lock) which described, among other things, visualizations of the world within the body as part of a meditation practice in cultivating qi.
Wang Chongyang is especially known for integrating what he considered the better aspects of the three teachings that dominated China's religions at the time-Daoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism-and incorporated them into the Quanzhen School.
Wang moved away from the elaborate ceremonies, the writing of talismans and use of charms (both characteristic of the Zhengyi sect), and reduced the intricate visualizations that were central to the old Daoist traditions.

Review of The Taoist Canon by Kristofer Schipper and Franciscus Verellen | Taoism | Daoism
First, in the unattributed general introduction to “Rules and Organization” the reader is informed that the “Chongyang lijiao shiwu lun, although often translated and quoted in the secondary literature, is simply a short programmatic description of the Quanzhen lifestyle of uncertain date and authorship” (1168).
However, the individual entry (1170) suggests that the text was, in fact, written by Wang Chongyang, the founder of Quanzhen.
As my Ph.D. dissertation suggests (Boston University, 2005), the Jinguan yusuo jue seems to be a discourse record of instructions given by Wang Chongyang during a variety of occasions, and there are, in fact, parallels between this text and other extant writings by Wang, the poetry anthologies in particular.
