  Wang Ming Summary
Wang Ming, the pseudonym by which Chen Shaoyu was commonly known, was born in Anwei province in Central China in 1904.
One aspect of this compromise was Comintern endorsement of Mao's leadership of the CCP and the demotion of Wang Ming at the Sixth Plenum of the CCP's Sixth Central Committee in the fall of 1938.
Wang was elected member of the CPC politburo, although he was not a Commissioner of the Central Committee of CPC yet, this being a prerequisite for being a politburo member under the system proposed by Wang himself.

Wang concluded that a person’s original nature is to be used in daily tasks in order to investigate and firmly grasp the truth.
Wang Yang-ming returned to Nanking to take up an official post when he was 42, by which time his ideas were attracting widespread attention.

Wang, Mei Wen-ting, and Hsueh Feng-tso were the first astronomers outside the court to respond to the exact sciences that were being introduced from Europe, and to shape the influence of these new methods and conceptions on their successors.
He charged that his late Ming predecessors let themselves be distracted from moral commitment and public responsibility by sectarianism, by pedantry and triviality in the Chu tradition, and, in the tradition of Wang, by a subjectivity and individualism ignorant of the authoritarian and hierarchic requirements of social order.

Wang Yangming [Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy]
Wang’s legacy in Neo-Confucian tradition and Confucian philosophy as a whole is his claim that the fundamental root of social problems lies in the fact that one fails to gain a genuine understanding of one’s self and its relation to the world, and thus fails to live up to what one could be.
Many of Wang’s statements, such as “The nature of all humans is good” and “[T]he original substance of the mind is characterized by the highest good; is there anything in the original substance of the mind that is not good?” show that he upheld the typical Neo-Confucian premise of the goodness of human nature.
Wang suspected that the distinction between the mind as perceiving subject and the world as perceived object could, by creating a gap between self and world, make genuine Confucian learning liable to degenerate into “vulgar learning,” which justified the pursuit of external knowledge that was irrelevant to the self.

Wang Yang-ming believed also that the Principle of the universe is equivalent to the human mind, and that the practice of jen, or "humanity," unifies the wise man with the universe.
Wang Yang-ming, however, expanded this notion and asserted that innate knowledge can manifest the original mind that is equivalent to the universe.
The Ming were very hostile towards Christianity, and when the sea-routes to China were discovered in the sixteenth century, the Jesuit, Francis Xavier, attempted to establish a mission on the Portugese settlement of Macao.

Hui-an said: "He who devotes himself to a study of the mind and of principles." Though the mind in one aspect controls merely the body, it really exercises control over all the principles under the heavens.
The later scholar's misfortune of merely seeking to attain to the nature of his mind, while losing the principles of things, arises out of his ignorance that mind is the embodiment of principles.
