  Wang Wei (pilot) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Wang Wei (王伟/王偉 April 6 1968 - Declared Dead April 1, 2001 (Still unconfirmed)) was a pilot in the People's Liberation Army Air Force whose J-8 fighter jet hit the wing of an American EP-3E surveillance plane about 70 miles off the coast of the Chinese island of Hainan.
Wang ejected from the plane and was lost.
Crew members claimed they had on previous flights seen Wang fly so close that when he held up a piece of paper containing an e-mail address, it was readable.

Wang Wei (王偉 1968/1969 - April 1, 2001) was a Chinese pilot whose F-8[?] fighter jet hit the wing of an American EP-3E spyplane about 70 miles off the coast of the Chinese island of Hainan, south of China.
The Chinese claimed the U.S. spyplane rammed Wang's fighter, while the Americans claimed Wang flew dangerously close to the much larger, slower, and less maneuverable spyplane.

 Wang Wei
Wang Wei (699-761), one of the three great poets of the earlier Tang Dynasty, was born in Shensi, his father a local official and his mother a member of a distinguished literary family.
At 16 Wei and a brother were introduced to society in the Tang capital of Chang-an, then the largest city in the world, and at 23 he passed the shin-shih which guaranteed entry into literary and official circles (exams which Du Fu failed and Li Bai never deigned to sit).
Wang's wife died when he was 30, and, not remarrying, the poet returned to Government service a few years later, dividing his time between Changnan and various missions, including three years on the northwest frontier.

During the Northern Expedition, Wang was the leading figure in the left-leaning faction of the KMT that called for continued cooperation with the CCP and the Comintern and for a halt in the Northern Expedition.
Wang’s faction, which had set up a new KMT capital at Wuhan was opposed by Chiang Kai-shek, who was in the midst of a bloody purge of Communists in Shanghai and was calling for a push north.
After this failure, Wang reconciled with the Nanking government in the early 1930s and held prominent posts for most of the decade, and accompanied the government on its retreat to Chungking.
