		An American original; WAR was the first and most successful musical crossover phenomenon that forever fused rock, jazz, Latin, and R&B, while transcending racial and cultural barriers with a multi-ethnic line-up; a musical melting pot and an enduring influence that has sold nearly 25 million records to date.
		In late 1971 WAR released All Day Music, the title track would be the group's first hit single, and their first gold single "Slippin' Into Darkness" followed propelling the album to over 1_ million sales and a winning streak that would continue for years.
		Although, WAR would never rekindle the level of prosperity that was reached in the mid-seventies, it continued to record releasing the albums: The Music Band (1979), The Music Band 2 (1980), and Outlaw (1982).

		I've listened to the album many times since then, and it continues to grow on me, particularly after I pored over the lyrics enough to determine the intent of each song, and evaluate the contiguity of the album as a whole.
		To be a truly effective concept album, a theme should be carried all the way through, but also provide some sort of character or situational development such that the album tells a story as a whole that expands beyond the situations detailed in the individual songs.
		As a result, the album is conspicuously lacking in the synergy one expects from either of such endeavors.

		Throughout Young’s career, neither his patriotism nor his spiritual convictions have ever wavered, and he holds hard-working Americans as well as their families in high regard, while downright despising those who abuse the power and the privileges that are granted to them.
		Nevertheless, there’s an urgency to the album that has been strikingly absent from rock music for several decades and buried within the affair are several tracks that not only serve to innoculate him from the usual right-wing charges of "blaming America first" but also grant the collection a more timeless resonance.
		On Living with War, Young essentially caps a trilogy of song cycles that have found him shifting from thoughtfully asking the electorate "Are you passionate?" to fervently portraying in all its ragged glory his visceral reaction to what has become of the post-9/11 world, and this time, he seems to have everyone’s attention.

	REGENERATOR REVEUZ WAR
		Finally, the album closes with a fast-paced, Club Mix of "War", with soaring vocals with no lyrics, almost like the sound of angels singing.Ê And to close the album, these thoughtful artists include a silent track just over a minute long in remembrance of those touched by the devastating acts of Sept. 11, 2001.
		Although much of War showcases a more energetic electro edge, Regenerator mangages to slow thigs down as heard on "Nowhere" or the crisp electro goth stylings of the somber, "Colours." Also included on the album is the band's great cover of "Love My Way," where they inject an eerie duality to this Psychedelic Furs classic.
		When you read the title "War" and knowing that this CD is dedicated to those who lost their lives on 11th September in the WTC-towers you kind of expect some brutal EBM-noises in Wumpscut-style but even if all songs are noted with how many beats they have per minute this is rather soft.

	Treble: Sleep Station - After the War
		Instead, the album is a nostalgic collection of tunes telling the stories of those involved in World War II.
		The album flows like musical theater, with sound effects of the time (radio broadcasts, gunfire, drum marches) separating blocks of music.
		While the idea of a concept album about World War II seems a little cheesy, it's hard to fault Sleep Station for their earnestness.

		The new album from Washington DC’s Weird War opens with the brief “Intro (Music for Masturbation),” on which sexually explicit moaning plays over a bass line that the band recycles on the very next track.
		The part about “retro self-indulgence” may be crossing the line: Weird War, like Svenonius’ and bandmate Michelle Mae’s previous outfit, the Make-Up, has a noticeable R&B influence (and Mae strikes each and every bass note so that we can hear it), but Weird War is also a distinctly contemporary outfit.
		Energy is eternal delight, as William Blake once wrote, and an album designed as a testament to the wonders of perseverance and commitment needs to be, when you really think about it, a party album.

		War had a unique sound, a combination of funk, randb, gospel and latin jazz (not to mention the harmonica of Lee Oskar and saxophone of Charles Miller) that had wide appeal that crossed racial lines.
		The album "Deliver The Word" brought us "Me & Baby Brother.wav file 30 K", one of their funkiest songs, which was influenced by Sly and The Family Stone.
		War went on to make more albums and hits including "Galaxy" and "Peace Sign" from their last album.

		Like many reviewers say, you really need to listen to U2 albums more than once, there is a huge difference between hearing and listening, and over the years the band has taught me to listen to the lyrics, not just for their songs but other artists as well.
		This is the album that saw U2 go from being a slightly "cult" band to being a huge band that had chart hits as well as albums, and, all of a sudden, everyone claimed to like them, which was rather annoying at the time.
		This album lacks the effervescent rawness of "Boy", but they had made huge steps here and this proves to be the last of the "unpolished" albums, when the band were still seen, by some, as post-punk semi new-romantics in the Echo and the Bunnymen vein.

		Even the album's liner notes -- a sociopolitical deconstruction of the rock group concept, presented as an interview with Hype Hair magazine -- is a deft mix of the Make-Up's manifestos and Royal Trux's rambling, hyper-literate paranoia.
		However, as is the case with many supergroups, Weird War isn't quite as solid as they could've been, considering the amount of talent involved.
		Overall, the album is a fun, enjoyably tossed-off collection that should appeal to most Royal Trux and Make-Up fans.

		The release of Living with War prompted a fury of controversy and media attention that Young hadn't encountered in nearly a decade, but all the hoopla missed the point that this is perhaps the artist's most skillful work to date.

		Audio War is the brainchild of Graham Rayner - songwriter for Cubanate and several tracks on the Gran Turismo soundtrack - and K-Nitrate programmer Christian Weber.
		The band are currently in the studio working on the third, and as yet untitled, album that promises to push the sound of Audio War still further in what has been described as their uniquely "eclectic" and "infectious" blend of riffs and rhythms.
		This album is by far one of the best I have heard to date, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

		'War' is far from perfect mind you, although yes, it was their best album at this stage.
		I mean, this album was released after Achtung Baby, another ground breaking record, and for these guys to come up with Zooropa, which in my opinion is not better but way more intriguing than Achtung Baby, says a lot about how good U2 could be.
		This album seemed seemed strong when it came out, but in retrospect, I think it was embraced more than anything because of the absence or kitch and irony.
