A warforged character can be crafted with the use of flametouched iron plating, providing armor and additional protection against evil outsiders at the cost of mobility.
Few warforged were designed with the compromise of adamantine plating and moderate mobility in mind, but those that have are able to move much more freely than heavier warforged.
A small number of warforged are capable of accepting a small portion of living wood into their bodies, allowing for slight natural regeneration.

Dungeons and Dragons Online - Information - Things you should know!
Warforged are formed in the creation forges, which channel the powers of Cannith heirs to produce effects similar to major creation and fabricate.
The materials of the warforged are not truly natural; this is reflected by the ability of a warforged juggernaut to change its shape over time (growing spikes), or the fact that an armorer can repair a mithral warforged even when he doesn't have any mithral on hand.
After emerging from the forge, most of the warforged were marked with symbols indicating the military specialty and national allegiance, so soldiers could identify their allies on the battlefield.

Hilleboe's wound prevents her from being noticed by the rangers (she was unable to leave her tent), but she is still seriously wounded when they set her tent on fire.
From this point on, the warforged has no problem remembering new occurances, though the time during the war is still lost in a haze of fragmented memories.

The precise history of the warforged and their current place in the world was not discussed in detail during the demo, and there's a little more to it than that.
Warforged haven't been around that long, and with the average joe's tendancy to anthropomorphosize things it seems more likely to me that the typical soldier would assign a gender to his big metal buddy as opposed to coming up with a new word or saying "it".
Many warforged follow the Lord of Blades with the same zeal a human cleric would devote to a deity, and the idea of a warforged cleric drawing divine magic from this devotion is certainly an interesting one.

As it is The warforged is still unlikely to see healing in combat as clerics won't want to blow spells on critters that only get half benefit, and Wizards are usually looking to blow stuff up rather than heal party members.

I was thinking of undead or a cult downloading their minds into the bodies of Warforged, the spirit of the warforged goes bye and the cult members have a body that last for a while and can be replaced later with a new one.
It stores the warforged's personality when the body is damaged, and if you put it on a different warforged they struggle for control of the body, with one ending up in the circlet and the other in the body.

 Wizards.COMmunity Boards - Warforged Names
Warforged who aren't particularly individualistic or creative would likely use their original numerical designation or whatever name they were given by their creators, owners, comrades, or what have you.
Warforged were created to be subservient and expendable, therefore I would assume that yes they have a designation code, but thier users/owners would have given them a simple name dependant upon thier duties.
The warforged were created to serve their masters in one capacity or another, so it is likely their names (if they were given any at all) are as variable as where they come from, and who created them.

Jhonen Olain's Eberron Journal ~ rules & mechanics
This assumes a 2nd-level warforged, but personally I have no problem with the idea that many warforged are 2nd-level or higher; there aren't that many of them, and they have always been an elite force as opposed to the bulk of the armies (1st-level warforged are thus experimental or economy models).
There is no reason that the typical warforged has to be level 1, and by raising the level of the standard warforged soldier you address the question of their effectiveness on the battlefield.
An individual warforged may not be a tank (that would be a warforged titan or jugernaut), but I would see it as being the equivalent of heavy cavalry: expensive, elite, and serving a specific function.

A typical warforged is only 2 to 3 times as effective as a normal soldier and most of that advantage is strategic rather than tactical.
And the process beinds the spirit to the mechanism, making a living soldier that is more effective than the previous, and because they must use a mechanical mind to think, they are unaware of their previous life -- the things that would let them think of it are closed off.
