In one example described as typical by an employee at Mayer Warner Center Ltd. Inc., an investor who bought a $50,000 unit in 1986 would lose his or her entire stake, and would have to report $92,000 this year in taxable gains, should Coast foreclose.
The Warner Center Apartments may be a dog for investors, but they are creating work in law offices across Los Angeles.
