Warrandyte was founded as a Victorian town located in the once gold-rich rolling hills east of Melbourne, Victoria, and is now generally considered part of greater Melbourne.
The Warrandyte Festival is held every year in mid March, a parade, live music, food and shopping stalls, kids activities and a Fireworks display are some of the things that can be seen at the festival, which is one of the last remaining volunteer-run festivals in Victoria.
Warrandyte is situated on the southern banks of the Yarra River.

Victoria is the second most populous Australian state, after New South Wales, with an estimated population of 5,037,700 as at September 2005.
Victoria's northern border is the south bank of the Murray River, the river itself being part of New South Wales.
Victoria contains many topographically, geologically and climatically diverse areas, ranging from the wet, temperate climate of Gippsland in the southeast to the snow-covered Victorian alpine areas which rise to almost 2000 m (with Mount Bogong the highest peak at 1986 m) and extensive semi-arid plains to the west and north-west.

 Artist's Footsteps
Clara Southern was born near Kyneton, Victoria on 3 October 1860, and was the eldest surviving child of five daughters and one son of John Southern, local timber merchant and farmer, and his wife, Jane, nee Elliott.
Her artworks, especially of Warrandyte, show the strong influence of Withers' teaching, and Withers in his later years, while living in Eltham, would often call on Clara Southern at her home in North Warrandyte.
She died at the age of eighty, on the 15 December 1940, and was cremated.

This coming summer is being predicted as one of high fire danger across the south eastern region of Australia.
The Warrandyte area, along with the Dandenongs, is the most fire prone area in Melbourne and this year poses a higher risk level than previous years.
A recruits course for the three Warrandyte brigades runs from early January each year but we are always happy to have you come up any time during the year, take a look around and see if you think you have what it takes.

Regular events: North Warrandyte CFA is involved in the orderly setting up of the Warrandyte Craft Market on the first Saturday of every month.
