The 82nd Airborne Division All American Band travels widely across the state of North Carolina on a constant basis for parades and concerts.
When not performing the band is either rehearsing for the next performance or training to maintain proficiency in their soldiering skills.
The band is authorized thirty-nine bandsmen and, one warrant officer as commander.

Warrant Officer William J. Stannard was the first official leader of The U.S. Army Band (1923-1935).
He conducted the band in its first radio broadcast on April 16, 1923, and was the leader of the band at the ceremony honoring Charles Lindberg’s historic flight across the Atlantic Ocean in the “Spirit of St. Louis.” In 1929, Stannard led the band at the Ibero-American Exposition in Seville, Spain.
Warrant Officer Stannard was awarded the Peruvian Order of the Sun for his interest in Incan melodies, composed the Washington Evening Star March, and was an accomplished clarinetist.

Grunge bands avoided the complex, high budget presentations that bands from other musical genres such as heavy metal were known for; complex light arrays, pyrotechnics, and other visual effects unrelated to playing the music were not part of the concerts.
Instead, the bands presented themselves no differently from any local band, using only their instruments and their own presence as visual "effects" (neither being budgeted higher than what was needed).
Many grunge bands refused to cooperate with major record labels in making radio-friendly hooks, and the labels found new bands that were willing to do so, albeit with a watered-down sound that did not sit well with the genre's long-time fans.

During the Coast Guard Band’s visit to the former Soviet Union in June 1989, Megan coordinated the events between the Ministry of Culture in Leningrad, the Soviet Armed Forces, and the American Consulate in Leningrad to set up the first tour of an American military band in that country.
Megan joined the U.S. Coast Guard Band in June 1975, was appointed the Band’s assistant director in July 1986 and director in October 2004.
As coordinator of the Band’s Young Artist Concert, he annually arranged the participation of outstanding area high school musicians in performance with the Coast Guard Band.
