Traffic analysts believe that a contributing factor to the crash rate on this section of the Warrego Highway is related to fatigued drivers not adjusting to driving on a two-lane road, having been on a divided highway.
The existing range road (Warrego Highway) carries 13,000 vpd, but this is expected to increase to 30,000 vehicles daily (including 5000 heavy vehicles) by 2010.
Back Creek bridge on the Gore Highway at the eastern outskirts of the Millmerran town centre has been in service since 1959, but is being replaced with a wider concrete structure 40 metres long built on a better alignment at a cost of $1.3 million.

The Bunya Highway is a state highway of Queensland, Australia.
It passes the Bunya Mountains National Park which is popular with tourists.
The highway is named after the Bunya-bunya Araucaria bidwilli which is found in this area and the seeds of which were (and still are) a favourite food of the Aboriginal Australians.

Mobile phone coverage is also being improved on more than 9000kms of national highways as part of the Commonwealth Government's $25 million Mobile Phones on Highways program with Vodafone, with coverage under the program expected to be completed by the end of 2002.

Senator Ron Boswell today committed $12 million Australian Government funding to eliminate the Plainland crash spot on the Warrego Highway, the location of 36 reported accidents since 1989, involving six deaths and 12 hospitalisations.
Senator Boswell said the Plainland interchange had become his top Highway priority in November 2002 when he drove past a crash at the intersection to attend a sod-turning ceremony for the nearby federally-funded Gatton bypass upgrade.
The Warrego Highway at Plainland carries 13,000 vehicles per day, intersected by the Laidley-Plainland Road with 3000 vehicles per day.

This interchange is located where the proposed bypass intersects the existing Warrego Highway.

I took Kessels Rd onto the Ipswich Motorway which eventually became the Warrego Highway - I had a good view of two cells that were starting to do quite nicely to my west.
The sides of the highway were completely full of water, and it was streaming out onto the highways, before I knew it - myself, and many others cars began to commence aqua-planing over areas!!!
Apparently, a few had 'strayed' out into more favorable chasing territory, and I was curious to see what they would do as they encountered sunny skies (the storms had passed to the north of the Warrego Highway by now), and fed on the steamy ground.
