		Warren, one of the western towns of Knox County, situated upon the St. George’s River, which passes through it from north to south, dividing it into nearly equal sections.
		Warren was originally known as the Upper-town of St. George, and belonged to the Mnscongus, afterward the Waldo Patent.
		Ellis Spear, recently commissioner of patents, is a native of Warren and a descendant of an early settler.

		WARREN, Maine - For decades, Maine’s prison system was known for its notorious East Wing, a cell block eerily reminiscent of something from a 1930s movie.
		Maine’s maximum security state prison and nearby prerelease Bolduc Correctional Facility, both in the rural, coastal town of Warren, won nearly perfect scores in recent audits, as did youth centers in Charleston and South Portland.
		The Warren prison, which replaced the fortress-like lockup in neighboring Thomaston after it opened in February 2002, "was one of the cleanest, quietest and best-operated correctional facilities that I have ever visited," said audit team member Joseph Costello.

		Cyrus Eaton's 1851 Annals of the town of Warren in Knox County, Maine with the early history of St. Georges, Broadbay and neighboring settlements on the Waldo Patent.
		On the establishment of a Post-office about 1820, it took the name of East Thomaston, and was incorporated by that name on the division of the town in 1848.

		The case is an appeal of the decision of Maine's Supreme Judicial Court relating to Warren’s dams on the Presumpscot River in Maine.
		In a nutshell, Warren's position is that Maine should have input into the FERC licensing process, but that it should not be able to dictate to the federal government the extent to which the many benefits of renewable energy can be sacrificed in favor of improved fishing and recreational opportunities.
		Maine Attorney General Steve Rowe did a good job of getting across the State interest in having a say in these matters, leaving the details to the U.S. Solicitor General, who also got across the point that all federal agencies charged with administering the statute have consistently interpreted it for decades.
