Warren Ellis, one of comicdoms most prolific writers is making a run on the states.
If you are fortunate enough to own Ellis' work or would like to start, consider visiting his Comickaze tour stop in 2001 to meet him and have him mark his work.
Ellis' writing has a depth that's rare in comic books and a world view that's grim but oddly tender.

Really, between Garth Ennis, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis (not to mention Alan Moore and Mark Millar, who would have made the list if there were twelve reasons), you have enough writing treasures to last at least a month or so on a deserted island...
As written by Warren, and later Mark Millar, this was the superhero genre the way it was meant to be.
Ellis is the writer for those who want to read comics, but can't accept spandex and shiny happy people.

Ellis attended along with the usual Marvel staff/dignitaries and they also took the opportunity to reveal Ellis’ next Marvel project, Newuniversal, a new ongoing series featuring the writer's brand-new take on Marvel's "New Universe".

Locus Online: Claude Lalumière on Warren Ellis
In 1994, Ellis began to write for US comics giant Marvel, most notably Doom 2099, in which he could address his utopian/dystopian concerns, and numerous runs (all cut short by the publisher) on supernatural titles such as Hellstorm, Doctor Strange, and Druid.
Ellis is a writer with big ideas, and longer serials are more likely to give him the time and space to properly articulate his compellingly idiosyncratic visions.
Currently, Ellis is involved in various multimedia projects, working on a number of SF comics, writing a science-fiction prose novel due to be published in 2005 from HarperCollins, and scripting superhero stories for Marvel's Ultimate imprint.

Nick Cave/Warren Ellis - The Proposition OMPS - Mute Records - CD
The music is more closely akin to Ellis’ work with his other band, the instrumental group the Dirty Three, heavy on violin and piano with mostly wordless vocal contributions from Cave.
Cave and Ellis’ areas of musical expertise lie elsewhere and, perhaps wisely, they have erred on the side of caution here, serving the film’s needs before their own.
Warren Ellis is a terrific musician (if you ever get a chance to see him perform live, either with the Bad Seeds or the Dirty Three, do it) and it’s rewarding to hear him given more of a spotlight here.

Warren Ellis is the violinist from Australia's Dirty Three, who have collaborated with a whole host of brilliant artists, including Low and Nick Cave.
Here, Ellis attacks his instrument with full force, recreating minimal musique concrete in a rock setting, in a way that implies he's been listening to one of those Thurston Moore side-projects one time too many.
Leaving a bit to be desired, then, but any fan of Ellis' other work should seek it out, if only to realize the man's unique and impressive musical scope.

Warren Ellis has a much bigger name, publicity-wise then almost anyone in webcomics (or maybe bigger then anyone - I'm not entirely sure) so anything he does regarding webcomic by definition is going to get some publicity. It's big fish - small pond stuff basically.

Warren Ellis became the vanguard of the New British invasion into American comics.

The reaction of Fitzgerald's boyfriend to the news that she's "one of them" is particularly telling - they're in an interracial relationship, yet he takes the news of her "membership" in the same way that racists would react to the fact of their coupling.
