Warwickshire’s success was not regained until 1951 when they won their second championship and another in 1972.
Warwickshire continued to win trophies in 1995 and 1997, the last major competition won for the club was in 2002 winning the Benson and Hedges cup.
With the contribution and the status of a ‘world class fielder’ he had the honour to become captain of Warwickshire county cricket club in 2004 and is continuing to lead the county team to success.

Until the year 2005, the club captain was Nick Knight, the coach was John Inverarity, and the Chief Executive was Dennis Amiss, though all three were stepped down at the end of the season.

The decision of the County Club in 1964 to centralise its facilities and fixtures in Leicester deprived Ashby of a fine spectacle, and its local cricket followers of a chance to view County Championship cricket close to hand.
Club cricket was conducted at a leisurely pace and was inevitably confined to those with the time and the money to be able to play during a time of severe economic recession.
These club members played home matches on a lovely ground, which was maintained to County Cricket standards and took their tea and after match refreshment in the elegant Royal Hotel.

When playing a county match, and you have managed to obtain them through end of season trades, etc. play two leg spinners (a leg spinner and an off spinner doesn't work so well).
For the county championship, the line-up I found to work best was a solid opener partnered with a free stroke-playing opener, a dominant opener at number 3.
Naturally all-rounders are good value in the one-dayers, but for those County Championship games it is usually better to restrict it to one really god all-rounder, and then either a specialist bowler who bat’s reasonably well or a batsman who can bowl.
