		The median income for a household in the county is $42,440, and the median income for a family is $50,081.

	Waseca County
		The Asa and Eliza Sutlief family filed the first claim in the county of Wilton organized in 1857, most of the areas in the county were established except Alton and Freedom Townships and the western edge of St. Mary and Wilton Townships, where a portion of the Winnebago Indian Reservation existed until 1863.
		Important influences in local history were the location of the railroad, changes in technical agriculture, modern mobility due to improved roads, bridges, and automobiles, industrial development, the advent of utilities, cooperatives and the determination of people to make Waseca County a good place to live.
		The first white settlement in Waseca County was made here by Asa G. Sutlief in 1854.

		Diaries (1879-1899) kept by Lydia Vinton describing her life on a farm she and her husband Austin Vinton owned in Waseca County, Minnesota, as well as diaries kept by a son (1858, 1867-1870) and grandson (1888-1889).
		The Vintons farmed in Cattaraugus County, New York until moving to Minnesota in 1856 and settling in September of that year on a farm located east of Waseca in Section 36, Woodville Township.
