The Office of Treasurer is a Constitutional Office with the Treasurer acting as the custodian of all money belonging to the county.
Under Indiana Code 5-13-7-6, the Local Board of Finance, which includes the County Board of Commissioners and the County Treasurer, reviews overall investment policy of the county.
The Treasurer shall receive all money coming to the county, and disburse the same on the proper orders issued and attested by the county auditor.

A wonderful staff helps researchers find those who are buried in the county.
The John Hay Center is owned and operated by the Washington Co Indiana Historical Society which was organized in the late 1800s to preserve the history of the county.
The local chapters' of the SAR and DAR along with other organizations have a ongoing project of preservation for grave sites of all known Revolutionary War Soldiers here in Washington Co. Several graves have already had new markers set with a ceremony to honor that soldier's duty.
