With the loss, any illusions that the Federals could simply overcome their many blunders from the previous season on their own were practically diminished.
With Washington off to another miserable start, attendance constantly dwindling, and the Federals only star athlete now permanently inactive, any appeal between the fans and the team that may have once existed had been detached.
While the Federals were seldom out of any games during their first season, they were anything but competitive in ’84.
