Wat Phra Kaeo was built in 1782 on the orders of King Rama I along with the Grand Palace and Ratanakosin Island.
The “Wat Phra Keo” is the Royal Temple which was built in 1782 AD on the orders of King Rama I, It houses the Emerald Buddha, the most revered Buddha image in Thailand.
A stop is made at Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun in Thai) housed a long, elongated, Khmer-style Prang, the Tower and four minor towers symbolizing Mount Meru, the terrestrial representation of the thirty-three heavens.

The current temple grounds were originally made up of three temples — Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Ho Tham and Wat Sukmin.
In 1545, the upper 30 m of the structure collapsed after an earthquake, and shortly thereafter, in 1551, the Emerald Buddha was moved to Luang Prabang.
It was moved to this location in 1800 by King Chao Kawila; it was originally located in Wat Sadeu Muang.

The name of the temple is Wat Phakhaopan, and there is a Lan Na Thai period chedi to the rear of the modern structure.
It was immediately obvious that this was a large complex of structures, which included a chedi up on a small mountain that I had observed from the road on my way to the temple.
The modern temple was originally named Wat Sop Kham, and was located along the edge of the Mekong.

have spent today seing usual tourist sights, wat po, the golden palace lalala.
the cheddi on the hilltop was like something out of lord of the rings and had views over this massive valley and the floors of the other buildings were made out of massive teak slabs.
Afeter vang vieng we headed upto luang prabang with was really nice, a bit touristy but the night market sold so much amazing stuff, beautiful silk scarfs, bed linen and silver jewellery.

Od cinskeho obchodu se suvenyry, kam nas nasi pruvodci odvezli, jsme jeste vyfotili krasny chram Wat Rajburana s dalsim velmi zachovalym prangem a pak uz jsme jeli na to nejlepsi, co Ayuthaia nabizi - nejdriv ke kralovskemu palaci Wat Phra Srisanphet, kteremu vevodi tri krasne pagody - tedy cheddi.
Podivame se zrejme na chram Wat Arun, na chram Zlateho Budhy a projedeme se po rece Chao Phraya...Nevim, jestli se zitra stihnu ohlasit, kdyz tak az Chang Mai...

We will also visit some remote hill villages, see some stupas and temples burried in the forest and check out the long necked, big eared women of northern Thailand.
