Wat Maha Thad is an old Buddhist temple built during the Ayutthaya period located at Moo 8, Tambon prak Sriraja, Amphur Santburi, Chainat.
The stupa is said to be the queen of all the stupas in Southeast Asia for her beautiful form and shape which was built in Lopburi Lavau tradition in a form of high shape and pattern typical to that influences.

Monsieur H. Parmentier, the Angkorean expert, after a detail study at Phimai came to the conclusion that the temple was built in the reign of King Suriyavoraman (A.D. He held that its architectural style closely resembled Angkorean buildings.
It may be that it was meant in order to face the direction of Angkor Wat.
It is recommended that visitors start to enter the Phimai sanctuary from the outer south Gopura which is the main entrance.

Since you want to visit Wat Poh only in the morning, you should consider taking a hotel in the Center (Ploenchit area, for the "Suan Loom night bazar"...the 20 Min drive to Wat Poh should be a problem...
