 CMT.com : The Chocolate Watchband : Biography
The Chocolate Watchband was a mod-outfitted garage punk unit par excellence, their sound founded on English-style R&B with a special fixation on the Rolling Stones at their most sneering.
Alas, the Watchband had the disadvantage of being a punkier band than the Standells, and suffering continual lineup changes.
The Chocolate Watchband never charted a record nationally.

Chocolate Watchband is one of many thousands of bands and artists we hold in stock at the Freak Emporium.
The second classic Watchband album, recorded in 1968, this contained a number of long instrumental exotic, Eastern orchestrated pieces such as "Voyage Of The Trieste" as well as versions of "I'm Not Like Anybody Else" and "I Ain't No Miracle Worker".

 Review - The Chocolate Watchband
Which means this might be the one true Chocolate Watchband document.
You have to realize this band received one of the worst screwings in the history of rock and roll at the hands of their producer and label back in '66, and most of what we've heard was not at all like it sounded when they put it down in the studio.
I'd like to have seen all of the available performance in those videos, but somebody thought it would be real artsy to obscure most of the screen with vintage photos of the band from time to time, sometimes in long barrages.

The Chocolate Watch Band and/or The Chocolate Watchband
If they were the Chocolate Watchband, they put out One Step Beyond, the third album in which the band got to do everything they wanted, exactly the way they wanted.
But what was memorable about the Watchband was their more maximally psychedelic material, which was more than hinted at on their first album but reached full fruition with The Inner Mystique.
I read in the liner notes to one of those comps that part of the fascination of their garage-styled material is the fact that the rhythm section just cannot get it together...ahead of the beat, behind the beat, on the beat but still wrong...

CANOE -- JAM! Music - Pop Encyclopedia - Plastic Cloud
In the 30 years since the release of their only album -- 1968's self-titled effort, very little is known about this act except that they could be compared, stylistically, to Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Chocolate Watchband or any other psychedelic/progressive act from the late sixties.
Like Reign Ghost, Plastic Cloud were trying to expand the boundaries set by flaccid Canadian AM radio at the time and were very inaccessible to radio which would explain their one and only release.
This 4-piece act from Pickering, Ontario were a mysterious blend of psychedelia and Tolkien mythology.

Music THE ROCHES AND THE CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND
The peaks came when the now clean-cut Aguilar rediscovered his teenage demons: on the Watchband’s first single, "Sweet Young Thing," he sang about catching his girl with another guy, and he sneered out the killer line "Hey, who’s that creep there touching your hair?" as if he weren’t yet over it.
No matter, because the sound at Great Scott was fully vintage, with Eastern-droning guitar lines, warped blues riffing, and Aguilar doing as good a Jagger swagger as the real one does nowadays.

Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go by The Chocolate Watchband: Reviews
Inner Mystique seems to be the Chocolate Watchband album that fans and casual listeners know best, even though it was the one of their three records that was most disconnected from any active incarnation of the group.
Slapped together in late 1967, in the wake of the virtual collapse of their lineup and rushed out in February of 1968, its original first side contained not a single note played or sung by the Watchband itself.

Their classic debut single on the Hot label, ‘C’mon’ (1984), boasted an authentic garage/RandB sound heavily influenced by such American garage/punk bands as the Moving Sidewalks, We the People and the Chocolate Watchband plus legendary Australian group the Atlantics (who originally issued the song as ‘Come On’ in 1967).
Alongside the likes of Died Pretty, the Celibate Rifles, the Lime Spiders, the New Christs, the Hoodoo Gurus and the Eastern Dark, the Wet Taxis came to epitomise the Australian garage rock sound and aesthetic of the 1980s.
Louis’s first band, the Wet Taxis, commenced life as an experimental outfit in the manner of fellow Sydneysiders Severed Heads and Scattered Order before taking on a tougher 1960s-influenced direction.
