Waterford Township is charter township of Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan.
Lewis Cass, the third governor of Michigan Territory, established the boundaries of Oakland County in 1819.
In the township the population was spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 36.0% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 years of age or older.

Waterford became a township in 1834 and in 1837 Michigan became a state.
During the time Michigan was part of the Northwest Territory, there were two main Indian Nations, the Algonquins who were tribes of the Hurons, Ottawas, Ojibwas, Pottawatomies, Miamis, Sauk, Sashabaws and others; and the Iroquois.
The first post office in Waterford Township was established in 1834-35 on the north shore of Elizabeth Lake.

Kevorkian's attorney, Mayer Morganroth, is expected to argue that his client's lawyer during the trial, David Gorosh, was ineffective, and that prosecutors inappropriately told jurors in closing arguments that Kevorkian refused to take the stand in his own defense.

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Michigan (June 10, 2002) -- The excitement of hydroplane racing returns to Pontiac Lake the weekend of July 27-28, 2002 as the Waterford Lions Clubs hosts the 3rd Annual Quake on the Lake at the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area in Waterford Township.
Approximately 75 of America's best hydroplane racers will compete in seven different classes for national championship points.  Quake on the Lake marks the midway point for drivers who compete on the coast-to-coast racing circuit.
More than 14,000 spectators have attended the 2-day event each of the last two years.  Proceeds from Quake on the Lake support Waterford Lions Club charities, most notably those that provide assistance for blind, deaf and disabled children in the area.
