Texas experienced a brewpub explosion just like the rest of the country during the 1990s, only to experience a collapse when the economy tanked in the new millennium.

While I was an undergraduate student at the University of Waterloo, my research dealt with the effect of attributional generosity on interpersonal trust in marital relationships.
As a result of this research, I was able to determine that the cognitive spin that people put on their partner’s behavior in conflict situations is a more powerful cross sectional and longitudinal predictor of marital trust than the actual behavior itself.
Since becoming a graduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, my research has primarily dealt with the effect of people’s tendency to idealize their partner on marital quality and stability.

Bittersweet and biting, elegiac and sharply observed, Waterloo is a portrait of a generation in search of itself — and a love letter to the slackers, rockers, hustlers, hacks, and hangers-on who populate Austin, Texas — from a formidable new intelligence in American fiction.
"Tart and melancholy, Waterloo is a sharply focused snapshot of contemporary journalists, rockers, politicos, lovers, and losers adrift in post-millennial Texas.
"Waterloo is a wonderful book, in both senses of the word: it's a consummate work of literary art, beautiful in design and unfaltering in its realization, as intricate and well-finished as a hand-carved chest.
