At Savernake Station one is brought within sight of the forest, and entering it at this point one is able to enjoy a lovely walk of 6 or 7 miles, which brings one out close to Marlborough Station, with the town on the further side of the railway.
Near the east wall of the church is the red brick tomb where Gray sleeps his last sleep, and in the meadow by the chancel window stands the huge cenotaph raised to his memory by John Penn. Of the little cottage where he spent his summer vacations and wrote the _Elegy_ nothing now remains.

 Articles - Clapham Junction
The station's main entrance is from St. John's Hill, into a foot tunnel some 15 ft (4.6 m) wide running transversely beneath the eastern end of the seventeen platforms, and on to a northern exit which has restricted opening hours.
Clapham, a mile to the east of the site, was a longer established and entirely more fashionable village and so the railway companies - which sought to attract a middle and upper class clientele - decided to adopt the grander of the two names.
Clapham Junction lays claim to be the busiest railway station in the United Kingdom.

 Waterloo
London& Waterloo Station - the former spacious headquarters of the London and South Western Railway, the Southern Railway, and British Railways Southern Region - London& southern (railway) gateway to the South West and the stockbroker belt - and in terms of area the biggest station in Britain.
The original Waterloo station opened on 11 July 1848 as a modest 4 platform 6 track through station (it was hoped to extend the tracks to London Bridge) on the south bank of the Thames after the LSWR extended from its original terminus at Nine Elms.
Workings of services from the three stations was often chaotic leading to much confusion of passengers, and it was this that was parodied by Jerome K. Jerome in a chapter in his book "Three Men in a Boat" by describing a journey from Waterloo to Kingston.

We could simply go to the Wellington Tavern which is opposite the entrance to Waterloo Station, but I would recommend that we attempt to find a pub which is currently buried behind all the workings for the Jubilee line extension.

The project was originated by London& Continental Railways, a consortium of eight major shareholders, including design and planning consultancy Ove Arup and Partners, engineering firm Bechtel, train and transport operators Virgin and National Express, investment bank SBG Warburg and French rail project manager Systra.

Transport Plans for the London Area - Central or Londonwide
The bus station, rather than the railway station, is the preferred terminus because bus arrivals in Peckham outnumber rail by 20:1 and transfer from East-West bus to CRT is seen as important traffic.
Her Majesty's Railway Inspectorate might insist that any trains using the Thames Tunnel must have end doors for detrainment, in which case the Networkers would have to be custom-built.
At the same time it avoids adding to the already overcrowded Brixton Road outside the tube station: transfer from bus to tube at Brixton is already one of the heaviest in London and the situation is made worse by the narrow pavement on the northbound side and the impossibility of building a subway.

The extension from Nine Elms to Waterloo was enormously expensive and, although the station was not intended to be a terminus, and much of the necessary land and property had been bought for a further extension, and the company had planned to acquire Southwark Bridge, a financial crisis intervened.
The acquisition of this line, which has only two stations - at Waterloo and the Bank - and on which tickets are issued by the train conductors, is noteworthy, since if it had not been taken over it would doubtless eventually have been merged into the system of the London Passenger transport Board.

The Eurostar (http://www.eurostar.com/dctm/jsp/index.jsp) runs from mainland Europe to Folkestone, Ashford and Waterloo Station in London.
England has one of the highest densities of railway lines per square mile in the world, so rail travel is a very viable option...but much of it dates back to the early 20th century and as such there are frequent train delays and cancellations due to engineering works.
Be aware that the train lines in the South and South East are some of the busiest and most overcrowded in Britain, especially during the week day rush hours (7:00 to 9:00 and then 16:30 to 18:30).

Railroad History in the Finger Lakes
It should be noted that all railroads in Geneva at this time, except the Fallbrook, used the rails to one passenger station on East Lewis St. Thus it is not surprising to note records of altercations between opposing trains of the different railroads occurring at the station from time to time.
In March, The Geneva and Waterloo Railway, with the never-constructed Geneva Surface Railway and The Waterloo, Seneca Falls, and Cayuga Lake Traction Company, were consolidated into The Geneva, Waterloo, Seneca Falls, and Cayuga Lake Traction Co. The company commenced service between the villages in its long title in September, 1895.
The Rochester and Eastern entered Geneva on west north and ran east down Castle Street to the station, which was located on the north side of the street, halfway between Geneva and Exchange Streets.
